SP1: Process studies
Process studies on greenhouse gas fluxes in a changing Arctic
The aim of Subproject 1 (SP 1) within the MOMENTplus consortium is to decipher how the coupling of vegetation, microorganisms, and soil properties influences greenhouse gas emissions in permafrost‑affected terrestrial ecosystems. The insights gained will feed into and improve model‑based predictions of greenhouse gas trajectories in SP 3. To achieve these goals, SP 1 investigates the influence of various environmental factors on biogeochemical processes in the tundra of Greenland and combines field measurements across different seasons with extensive laboratory analyses and experiments, particularly mesocosms.
